Update on my life

Ok, so I have my black belt now ( I got a 99% on my test), and the school year is ending. Wow, it went by FAST. SO Il be finishing up school on the 14th, and  then Ill be going to Chicago and Cabo this summer ( I know that they are complete opposites). As a black belt I am super excited because my seven years in karate have paid off and it’s just really cool. Haha – well thats it for now, my friend is headed overe here to chill. Bye ! 

Makin Mochi

Makin Mochi

Guess what Cheflings! I made mochi! This is a japanese treat when you ground up rice and other flours into a fine paste creating a covering for ice cream, red bean paste, etc. I made an easier type, because it was only my first time.
Ingrediants:
Sweet rice flour,
Potato flour,
sugar,
water,

Directions: mix the sweet rice flour, water, sugar, and potato starch. Mix, then microwave for 2 minutes. Put cornstarch on a cutting board, lay down the dough and then roll it out, Cut into pieces and fold around ice cream. I froze the Mochi to make it cold (this is optional)

Just a little check up

        When i havent posted in a while i will write a check up updating you of recent events- like the beginning of glee. Well, my brothers had their birthdays recently, I still like chocolate, my mother made peanut butter cookies, I have been spuradicly  ( sorry about that spelling)  reading the Hobbit ( why are there so many dwarves?) My new saying on the top of the page under the title (musings of the young one) has been changed to Grata meo mentis which is not bad spelling for “grated *cat noise mental” but latin for Welcome to my mind, i updates my instagram account reerah_12………And thats what you missed on Musings of the Young one 🙂

Iron Chef – Nutrition Class

Nutrition class- Iron Chef Activity

For this week’s recipe, my cousin and I decided to have an iron chef cook off.

My Baba (that means dad in Farsi), bought four main ingredients, unknown to us, until we started cooking: Cod fish , carrots, beans, and mushrooms.

 

The Rules: we had to create two different tastes;

 We had 45 minutes to cook and 10 minutes to plate the food,

both dishes must include all of the ingredients,

 Cod must be the main meal.

My meal:

I sautéed cod with lemon juice, pepper, and cyan pepper flakes.

  When sautéing, I let olive oil simmer on the pan before I put in the seasoned fish in the pan. Then I made beans with cooked onion and carrot mixed in. I put the beans, onions, and diced carrots on the stove and mixed in garlic powder. Last but not least, I sautéed the mushrooms as a garnish for my plate; I used olive oil, rosemary, basil flakes and chopped garlic to add to the flavor.

My cousin’s plate:

My cousin sautéed his cod with garlic and olive oil. For the mushrooms and the carrots he made a vegetable melody with several seasonings; He warmed the beans in a pot.

 

**Some side notes: we stayed away from butter because it is saturated fat (which is fat that is solid at room temp); instead we used small amounts of olive oil. the Cod andphoto 1

photo 4 the beans was used because it is a great source of protein and iron. The carrots and mushrooms have many vitamins such as (vitamin A and D) and necessary fibers and minerals.

I love  visiting Family on Thanksgiving!!! I cant wait to eat corn and brownies (i am not a big turkey person). My cousins, siblings, and I have caused alot of trouble. HEHEHHE

Cooking Class

The Two cheflings are taking cooking classes 

Yesterday we made Black bean and corn salad

salsa and guacamole

and tres leche cupcakes topped with roasted coconut

Back to meal time

I have been a pescatarien for quite sometime now ( and I still dont know how to spell it) and so my parents had to pack 3 diff. lunches everyday. In my lunch i would find: Trail mix, 2 fruits, something sweet, something healthy (apple sauce, granola bar) and a main coarse ( pesto pasta, fish, leftovers that i liked, honey banana peanut butter sandwich, chile, etc.). 

The way they did this was by making big meals in advanced, such as pasta, then have 2 diff. sauces for 2 diff. days. Then they would take the snacks for my lunch and pack them in containers and keep them in the fridge together until I needed to pack them. In the morning all you had to do was choose what you wanted in th fridge and pack!
